I use it to convert VST plug-ins to RTAS so I can run VST plug-ins in Pro Tools LE 7.4 that I run with a Digi 002R audio interface. This is a very striped down version and I still haven’t played around with it yet. I am currently running the FXpansion VST to RTAS plug-in wrapper on a Mac Book Pro that has a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM.
I have got a version of Melodyne Essentials. I know they do horrid things when used to even the slightest excess and that they are in effect cheating. To be perfectly honest there is only one plug-in I feel I am missing and it’s an (shock horror) pitch correction or auto tune plug-in. The Fxpansion RTAS to VST wrapper is one of the most used solutions for those wanting to use VST plug-ins in RTAS versions of Pro Tools. I still haven’t finished typing in Keys to unlock all the stuff that comes with the Pro Tools bundles. Possibly because after 15hours of installing and setting up. However, the company selling the wrapper does have an obligation to make sure it works with most VSTs or make it clear it really doesnt, regardless of who or what cause the problem. Im actually not doing to bad on the plug-in fever thing atm. The companies making the VSTs dont really have an obligation or desire(or they would make rtas) to see that their products work with a wrapper. Virtual Studio Technology (VST) is developed by Steinberg and first launched in 1996.

Think I may just dish out for the real thing. VST Audio Plug-ins SDK (C++) is a free development tool and wrapper VST, VST3, Audio Unit, AAX plugin developed by Steinberg. Im sensing VST to be a bad idea, particularly when you Pro Tools setup is brand new and has been functioning for a total of about 20hours the words "Crash your system" do tend to ward one of a subject.
